What We Do

Over the years the Actors have developed their own style combining comedy and information to support the rights of people with learning difficulties.

Currently touring:

Heroic Feets - A show about getting an Individual Budget

We all have dreams, but how do you turn them into plans? Heroic Feets is a show and workshop that explores your questions! where do you turn to to get your dream into a plan which will work for you? Who do you ask for support? How do you get started? and of course which step do you take first?

Our upbeat music theatre follows three friends as they wake up to the facts about planning a new direction for themselves.  Laugh and cry as they face their obstacles, fears and questions.  Journey with them to discover their inner strengths and have some fun along the way!

Billy and the Big Yin – A play about the life of Billy Connolly

Billy and the Big Yin tours with the full company: Lawnmowers actors, band and Krocodile Krew.

This seriously funny show takes us on a guided tour of Billy Connolly's life and encourages us to take a walk through our own, exploring how humour helps us all to survive.

Find out how Billy woke up, sobered up, spoke up for himself and ended up having the last laugh.

Joking aside, see how Billy survived a life dominated by an abusive father, a negligent mother, auties from hell, a vicious teacher and vindictive nuns to become one of the most loved Scotsmen ever.

Thie tour was funded by: Arts Council England North East, Community Foundation, Henry Smith Charity, Gateshead MBC, Greggs Trust, Hadrian Trust, Northern Rock Foundation, The Lankelly Foundation, Big Lottery Fund, Gateshead NRF. Thanks to all our funders!

Walk the Walk – A show about valuing people

The company move through their response to the current government white paper, 'Valuing people a new strategy for learning disability in the 21st century.'

Travel back in time to see how previous government acts and laws have affected people with learning difficulties.

Trek with them to the future to see how this 21st Century strategy might work.

Journey with Billy Connolly, Marlene Dietrich, Francis Rossi, Dustry Springfield, and, of course, Elvis, to find out how people with learning difficulties can have 'the same chances as anyone else to lead a full and interesting life and be respected.'

"We've talked the talk now walk the walk,
Bin the blackboard and ditch the chalk,
The answer is staring us right in the face,
We are the answer, here is the place."
